Water Treatment

Our factory has its own water treatment plant, which purifies the wastewater from the Ecover site in an ecologically responsible manner. During the purification process, active bacteria break down the waste materials generated by our production operations.

Each day, wastewater is pumped for several hours into a separate tank containing activated sludge. As Ecover does not use any raw materials that are difficult to decompose or toxic to aquatic organisms, this decomposition is rapid and complete.

Afterwards, the sludge settles out during a rest period lasting several hours. After settlement, the sludge is separated from the purified water. The volume of sludge builds up fully over the course of several weeks, after which it is processed into organic fuels and soil improvement products.
