Waste Prevention

Care is taken to ensure that all packing used by material suppliers is kept to a minimum and can be recycled (cardboard, plastic wrappers) or reused (1756 lbs bags are re-used in-house and metal or plastic barrels can be refilled).

The large outside boxes, in which the empty bottles are brought, have been taken back by the supplier since 1987 - the boxes are re-used until they break. It is not unusual to find boxes in the factory that have made the return trip 14 times or more!

Finished products that still need to be filled and wrapped in packaging are stored internally in large tanks with a content of between 20 and 40 tons, or in reusuable 265 gallon containers on castors.

Administrative aspects of the production process are nearly all carried out on computers, which reduces paper use to a minimum.
