Energy Consumption

Ecover operates entirely on green electricity. Green electricity is produced by wind generators, tidal generators and other types of natural sources, and it is generally fed into the grid via meters. That means a small part of the electricity you use at home is also green. Ecover pays a bit more and receives confirmation that it uses green electricity. That enables the electricity supplier to purchase ‘green electricity’ certificates, which are used to make investmentsin the green sector.

We try to keep our energy consumption as low as possible. For instance, defective computer monitors are systematically replaced by flat-screen monitors, which use considerably less energy. In the factory, we use lamps with a very good ratio between light output and energy consumption, and in the administration building we use energy-efficient, high-frequency fluorescent lamps. In our production hall, we have motors on our mixing kettles that can mix 25 tonnes of liquid while consuming no more electricity than a few flat-irons.
